Gilbert J. Bottomley
February 10, 1931 - January 21, 2022
Gilbert J. Bottomley, age 90 of Quarryville, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Singer Bottomley with whom he celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage. Born in Granogue, DE, he was the son of the late Roland and Lulu Glanding Bottomley. Gilbert and Nancy both attended Calvary Monument Bible Church in Paradise and were previously members at Willowdale Chapel. He graduated from Kennett Consolidated High School, Class of 1949. He worked at Longwood Gardens in the greenhouse for over 38 years. Gilbert honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He volunteered at Wycliffe Bible Translators for over 15 years, was a life member of Longwood Fire Company, and he loved sports. Surviving besides his wife are 3 children: Linda, wife of Robert Conner of Brookhaven, PA, Ronald, husband of Patricia Williams Bottomley of Linwood, PA, and Steven, husband of Carolyn West Bottomley of Parkesburg, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a brother, Charles Bottomley. He was preceded in death by a son: Michael, late husband of Lois Luther Bottomley of Conway, SC.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
